Director Julie Taymor uses breathtaking theatrical magic to bring Disney’s original animated feature to life in a production which has thrilled over 95 million people around the world.

 

See how Simba grows from lion cub to King of The Pride Lands in front of your very eyes at The Lion King. One of the biggest shows from the West End, London is coming to Bristol on the first stop of its UK tour. Enchanting audiences with its bright colours, marvellous puppetry and much-loved characters from the film including Mufasa, Nala and Rafiki. Even if you’ve never seen the film, you’ll be able to hum along to lots of songs you already know, including “Circle of Life” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” written by chart-topping singer and songwriter Elton John.

 

When the curtain rises at The Lion King for the first time, you’ll be transported to Pride Rock, deep in the heart of the African savannah. When you’re in your seat, don’t forget to look up during the first few minutes of the show, and you’ll see puppet birds swooping throughout all levels of the theatre, while puppet giraffes, lions, zebras parade on stage in a wonderful animal exhibition that brings the African lands to life.

 

Newborn lion cub Simba is the heir to Mufasa, the respected King of the Pride Lands. Mufasa looks after his son, yet when Simba tries to break away from his family, he finds himself in sticky situations. With stampedes chasing him and his life put in grave danger, Simba has to protect himself. Forming close friendships with Timon and Pumbaa along the way, Simba reflects on how important the Pride Lands is to him, remembering who he is and what he left behind.

 

Ever since The Lion King  opened in 1999, the show has remained a firm audience favourite, combining songs, movement and puppetry into a dazzling West End show. This memorable story is sure to stay in your heart and mind for a long time, so if you’re wanting to see a show with songs, movement and puppetry, The Lion King is the show for you.

 

The cast of The Lion King  is made up of over 30 People and the show has been seen by over 100 million people worldwide, with productions in the West End, on Broadway as well as productions around the globe. 

 

The Lion King is recommended for ages 6 and up. All persons aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult and may not sit on their own within the auditorium. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Strobe lighting is used several times during the performance.
