RHS Garden Wisley

Wisley is the historic home of the RHS and houses one of the largest plant collections in the world.

RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey

Welcome to RHS Garden Wisley, the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society and one of the great gardens of the world.

People come to Wisley for so many reasons - to enjoy and learn about our renowned plant collections, to get advice and inspiration for their own gardens, to take part in workshops and events, to spend time with family and friends, and simply to relax among beautiful surroundings.

From its beginnings, Wisley has been about plantsmanship and experimentation, and it continues in that spirit today. In late summer 2017, we opened an exciting new Exotic Garden and over the coming years we will be unveiling many more exciting new areas and facilities as part of our major Strategic Investment Programme.

On behalf of the many members of staff and volunteers who work hard to make Wisley wonderful all year-round.

Wisley is the historic home of the RHS and houses one of the largest plant collections in the world. The gardens delight through every season: enjoy swathes of bulbs and blossom in spring, unforgettable mixed borders and roses in summer, autumn’s bountiful colours, and frost-sparkled walks in winter. And don't miss the stunning Glasshouse, set to transport you to far-flung shores.

Gifted to the Society in 1903, only a small part of the original estate was cultivated as a garden, the remainder being wooded farmland. Over time, the face of Wisley has changed, so it is now world-class garden in its own right, but a closer look reveals the real value of Wisley. In the trials fields, the finest flowers and vegetables are identified from the countless new introductions. Elsewhere in the garden, cultivation techniques, such as composting or pleaching, are tried and tested, and a series of model gardens answers the needs of a variety of conditions and circumstances.
