Sunday

A leisurely drive to Plymouth and the late afternoon sailing for Spain on Brittany Ferries new ship. Travelling at speeds up to 50% faster than traditional ferries, the sailing to Santander is a mere 18 hours. Cabin accommodation is provided and there is plenty of time to enjoy the restaurants, entertainment and the lovely pool.

Monday

Arriving in Santander in late morning
we then travel to Suances and our hotel
for the next 7 nights with dinner, bed & breakfast.

During your stay

• Free time to explore Suances at leisure.
• We head west along the coast to the pretty
village of Santillana del Mar to explore its
cobbled streets and admire the honeycoloured churches.
• Comillas which is home to many types
of neo-classical buildings and a beautiful
cemetery which has been declared a Site of
Cultural Interest.
• We travel to the engaging capital city of
Cantabria, Santander, full of fine beaches,
shops, cafés and some intriguing cultural
attractions. The Palacio de la Magdalena,
once the royal summer residence, lies at
the mouth of the Bay of Santander on the
rocky La Magdalena Peninsula whilst the city
centre is home to Santander cathedral, with
its octagonal cupola and Gothic cloister.
• Visit to the Picos de Europa National Park’s
Sotama Visitor Centre. We spend some
time here before we travel on to Fuente
Dé, where we enjoy a ride on the Fuente
Dé cable car clinging to the mountain slope
where there are spectacular views from the
top, at a height of 1,800m!
• The glorious Cantabrian Coastline visiting the
seaside town of San Vicente de la Barquera.

Monday.

Leaving Suances after breakfast we
travel back to Santander and board our ship
for the return sailing where again cabin berths
are provided on a room only basis.

Tuesday

Arriving in Portsmouth late afternoon, we disembark and return home.
