Carmarthen is reputed to be the birthplace of the legendary wizard Merlin and has the distinction of being Wales oldest town. It stands on a bluff above the River Towy which runs from the Black Mountains down into Carmarthen Bay. Nearby the National Botanical Gardens of Wales and the historic Aberglasney Gardens are well worth a visit as well as the many majestic medieval castles which dominate the landscape of West Wales.
The town itself has a large leisure centre and the area offers a choice of golf courses, river and lake fishing, walking and rambling and areas of outstanding beauty.
Travelling to South Wales, visiting the beautiful Gower Peninsula, with lovely scenery, and a visit to Mumbles.
You will travel to Camarthen via the Gower Peninsula and The Mumbles and check into your hotel for a 1 night stay with dinner, bed & breakfast. Free time to relax and go off and explore.
On day 2 after breakfast we check out of our hotel head to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Set in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside, the Garden is a fascinating blend of the modern and historic with a variety of gardens and other interesting things to see.
After our visit we return home.
Day 1
We depart the West Country and travel to Camarthen via the Gower Peninsula and The Mumbles and check into our hotel for our 1 night stay for dinner, bed & breakfast. Free time to relax and go off and explore.
Day 2
After breakfast we check out of our hotel and head to the National botanic gardens of South Wales. Mid afternoon we then continue and head back for home.
