We depart and make our way to Dover
and the ferry crossing to Calais and continue to
our hotel in Lisieux for the next 4 nights with
buffet dinner, bed and breakfast.

This morning we visit the medieval
town of Bayeux, with its cobbled streets and
Norman cathedral of Notre Dame. Here, you can
view the famous Bayeux Tapestry (before it is
transferred to the UK in 2020), to marvel at this
70 metre long intricate embroidered artwork,
depicting the history surrounding the Battle of
Hastings. Later we make our way to the Chateau
de Vendeuvre where a spectacle of 30,000
colourful tulips are displayed in carpets across
the chateau grounds, together with water
gardens, mazes and grottos.

Today we visit two sites associated
with the Battle of Normandy. Our first stop is at
Arromanches, where the artificial Mulberry
Harbour was constructed to berth many of the
Allied boats, ships & supplies. We visit the
circular 360 cinema for a very moving and poignant short film, telling the story of the 100
day battle of Normandy, a tribute to the men of
all nations who gallantly fought and fell, and the
20,000 civilians who lost their lives during the
liberation, with unseen archive footage played
on multiple screens. With time for lunch in the
seaside town of Arromanches Les Bains, we
continue to Ranville, most famously known for
the British airborne landings at Pegasus Bridge.
Whilst here you may like to visit the Pegasus
Memorial Museum, dedicated to the memory of
the 6th Airborne Division and their role during
the Battle of Normandy between June to
September 1944.

Today we visit the Chateau Du Breuil
for a guided tour of the Calvados distillery,
where you will discover the slow process of
transforming apples to calvados. We will enjoy
tasting the calvados accompanied with a tasty
local treat of Normandy Apple tart, fresh cream
and cider.

Today we make our way back to Calais
where we board our ship to Dover and we then
continue our journey to the West Country.
