The Chocolate Story, York

Your expert guide will take you on a 1hr 15min tour, guiding you through the history of chocolate's founding families - Terry’s, Craven’s and Rowntree’s. Discover the chocolatier's secrets in the factory zone learning how a simple cocoa bean is transformed into the finest chocolate in our virtual chocolate factory. Also you’ll discover the history of some of York’s most iconic chocolate brands – take a trip down memory lane and reminisce with some retro favourites from times gone by.

 

You’ll also learn the secret of why chocolate makes us feel so good and why it has an ethical and sustainable future. Then it’s time to master the secrets of the chocolatier, as you create hand-made chocolates for yourself, before seeing how our very own experts do it. Watch our Chocolatiers as they showcase the art of chocolate-making and sample the fruits of their labour: fresh hand-made chocolates.

 

 

 

Day 1

We depart the West Country and make our way to York where we check in for our 2 night stay for dinner, bed & breakfast. Free time to explore the delights of York.

Day 2

After breakfast, it is a 10-minute walk to The Chocolate Story for a guided tour of the history of chocloate making. In the afternoon, walk down to the river and enjoy a relaxing cruise on the River Ouse. Free time to explore York.

Day 3

After breakfast, free time to explore York before we leave to begin our journey home.

Hotel:

Staying at the Queens Hotel in central York with two nights dinner, bed and breakfast.

 

Located on the banks of the River Ouse, The Queens Hotel is ideally located for the many shops, restaurants and bars that the center of York has to offer. The Queens Hotel is within easy walking distance of York Train Station, York Minster, Yorvik Viking Museum and the National Rail Museum.

 

The Hotel has 78 bedrooms over four floors. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with classical decor. All rooms have complimentary WiFi, Freeview TV with radio, private bathrooms with complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, and a welcome refreshment tray. The hotel has a lift.

 

The Royal Brasserie is a relaxing place to dine, serving breakfast and dinner to guests. It offers a range of modern and traditional dishes. Relax in the Riverside Lounge for a drink and enjoy the views.
