Longleat Estate & Safari at Christmas

Longleat is all set to tell you a story as The Festival of Light returns in spectacular style for 2023.

 

Step straight into your favourite tales and make your Christmas shine on selected dates from 11th November 2023 - 7th January 2024.

 

Upon arrival, your day will commence with your drive through the safari park (please note that we do not drive through the Monkey enclosure). Then you will have free time to explore the grounds and attractions at your leisure with the Illuminations switched on at 4pm.

 

Longleat has been one of the UK’s best-loved attractions for over 50 years. A full day of family fun at Longleat Safari & Adventure Park all set within 900 acres of Capability Brown landscaped grounds, Longleat House is widely regarded as one of the best examples of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain and one of the most beautiful stately homes. It was substantially completed by Sir John Thynne in 1580 and today, his descendants are still lucky enough to call it their home.

 

DISCOVER TREASURED TALES

Once upon a time there was a magical wardrobe that transports you to a whole host of magical worlds: Where dreamers don their glass slippers to wander to Wonderland, before letting down their golden hair and sliding into the Hundred Acre Wood.

In hot pursuit from the big bad wolf, our heroes take solace in a gingerbread house. Before falling into the deepest sleep, a sprinkling of fairy dust reminds them that there’s no place like home.

 

Rediscover the stories that shaped our childhood and make your own magical moments as Longleat presents Treasured Tales: The Festival of Light 2023.

Some of the show-stopping scenes you can expect are taken from C.S Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe; Cinderella; Snow White; The Wizard of Oz; Winnie the Pooh and more.

These gems of storytelling have always sparkled, but this winter Longleat is bringing the shine – with spectacular life-size lanterns to discover.

Access to enjoy these stunning lantern scenes is included with all tickets for The Festival of Light.

 

There will be hundreds of lanterns, set in over 30 acres of splendid ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped grounds. Prepare to be amazed as the winter sun sets and Longleat transforms into a breath-taking illuminated world. This eagerly anticipated spectacle is included in the price of your day ticket.

 

Marvel at the 20 metre tall tree as it sings your favourite carols every 20 minutes from 4:30pm to 6:30pm for a spectacular display of light and 3D mapped projections within the Stable Yard, including flurries of snow!

 

Venture to The Longhouse for an extra sprinkling of seasonal spirit. We’ve combined the magic of storytelling with the aerial grace and agility of native species including tawny, barn and eagle owls to create a truly unforgettable experience with The Flight Before Christmas.

 

As Christmas magic glistens around the Park, during the day you can also enjoy all of Longleat’s animal and adventure attractions, including the Safari Park, Koala Creek, Jungle Kingdom, Jungle Cruise and the ever-popular Adventure Castle. Visitors can get right up close to animals such as meerkats, anteaters, porcupine in Jungle Kingdom and enjoy spectacular daily shows. Onsite there are grab-and-go vendors and indoor eating facilities for hot and cold food and drinks. You are welcome to bring your own picnic with some outdoor seating available.

Child entry age 3 -14 years. Children 2 and under - free entry - will not have a coach seat but sit on the lap of minder.

 

Please note: entry to the house is not included and can be booked for an extra charge on the day, subject to availability.
