Escape the 21st century and return to the sensual early 1700's. A period when gardens were almost theatrical sets. Charming garden structures nestle next to informal plantings, vistas, woodland walks, a large kitchen garden and a very unusual maze. Painswick is a joy at any time of the year. Batsford Arboretum set in 55 acres of parkland overlooking the Evenlode Valley containing over 1,500 different species of trees, Spring brings displays of flowering bulbs, wild flowers, magnolias and National Collection of Japanese Cherries.

Moreton-in-Marsh

Is one of the principal market towns in the northern Cotswolds situated on the Fosse Way. There are several pubs, inns, hotels, tea shops and restaurants. The high street has many elegant eighteenth-century inns and houses including the Redesdale Market. The oldest building is likely to be the sixteenth-century Curfew tower on the High Street. Its bell was rung nightly until 1860 to remind people of the risk of fire at night. The Curfew Tower at the junction of High Street and Oxford Street dates from the 17th century
