The Tank Museum

Bovington, Dorset

Special Event: Tiger Day - see military tanks in action on Saturday 28th September 2024.

Welcome To The Home Of The Tank. The tank was a British invention that changed warfare for ever when it was introduced in World War One – and Bovington has been the home of the tank ever since. Allow 4-5 hours for your visit as there is so much to see and do.

From the Somme to Tiananmen Square or D-Day to Desert Storm the tank has played a part in shaping history – and it continues to do so today. This unique collection of over 300 vehicles is regarded as the best in the world and includes the world’s first ever tank, the feared German Tiger tank and the modern Challenger 2.

Our exhibitions tell the story of armoured warfare from World War One to the present day. As you explore the Museum’s six large halls you will come face to face with vehicles that have seen action in all the major wars of the 20th Century and hear first-hand accounts from those who fought in them.

Enjoy a day out visiting one of the greatest collection of Armoured Fighting vehicles in the World with family activity trail. Exhibitions tell the story of the tank and tank crews spanning almost 100 years of history, supported by our unique collection of tanks and supporting artefacts. The Museum examines the conditions that led to the invention and introduction of the tank. The Tank Museum brings the history of tanks and tank crew to life…Supported by the world's best collection of tanks & action packed live displays.
