There is a lot to see and we recommend that you allow a minimum of two and a half hours for your visit. However, with our new galleries, exhibitions and on-site cafés and shops, lots of people will come for half-a day or more.
First World War Galleries (allow approx. 90 minutes)
Discover the story of the First World War through the lives of those who experienced it both on the front line and at home.
The Holocaust Exhibition (allow approx. 90 minutes)
Traces the Nazi persecution and murder of Europe’s Jews from 1933 to 1945.
A Family in Wartime tells the story of how ordinary people braved the challenges of life at home during the Second World War through the eyes of the Allpress family, who lived in Stockwell, London.
Secret War explores the undercover world of espionage, covert operations and the work of Britain’s Special Forces.
Witnesses to War: explore the new atrium and levels 1 and 2 – allow approx. 2 hours to explore.
The Lord Ashcroft Gallery: Extraordinary Heroes houses the world’s largest collection of Victoria Crosses and a significant collection of George Crosses.
Curiosities of War discover people’s stories of modern war and conflict through some of the more unexpected objects from our collections.
Peace and Security: 1945 - 2014 discover how conflicts have been fought and communities divided in places such as Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan from 1945 to the present day.
Turning Points: 1934 – 1945 explore key moments of the Second World War through the connections between people’s lives and the objects on display.
There is a café that serves hot and cold food and offer kids a special menu.
Concession tickets for special exhibitions are available for Senior Citizens, Students, and the unemployed. Carers accompanying disabled visitors are given free admission to special exhibitions.
