Located at the head of the beautiful Evenlode valley, Moreton is a thriving market town dating back 1000 years to the Saxon era. The small, friendly and pretty town provides a wide range of facilities with a good range of shopping facilities, which makes it an excellent centre for any visitor.

Stow on the Wold

Or Stow St Edward as it was once called owes the above reputation to the fact it was built on top of the wolds. The Market Square and the Green complete with 19th century village stocks, give this beautiful Cotswold town its wide open appearance. Despite this, you will find many alleyways and passages  leading onto the Square and all worthy of further investigation!   These passageways are reminder of the old sheep fairs and the sheep droving that has taken place in times gone by.

The town has many claims to fame, the last battle of the Civil War was fought in Stow-on-the-Wold. There are two fairs held in Stow to this day in May and October, both featuring high on the Romany calendars.

The oldest Inn in Stow and for that matter in England is reputedly The Royalist in Digbeth Street, this inn can trace its history back to 947AD and has many ghostly tales and architectural features to support this reputation.

The church of St Edward is situated behind the Market Square the churchyard has a number of replendent yew trees. Originally dating from 13th- 15th century there were many alterations made during 19th century not necessarily compliemntary to the original building.
