The Great Glasshouse at the National Botanic Garden of Wales has been named in the top 10 of must-see UK gardening attractions and it is the only place in the world where you can visit the Mediterranean, South Africa, Australia, Chile and California on the same day. Covering 3,500 square metres, its rocky terraces, sandstone cliffs and gravelled scree slopes are contoured to reflect the natural environment and to create a wide range of habitats, balancing light and shade and varying moisture levels to suit the needs of different plants.
With 400 acres for you to explore, Waun Las National Nature Reserve is an enchanting mosaic of flower-rich meadows, evocative woodlands, waterfalls and cascades. Over the past five years, we having been restoring this landscape for your enjoyment, well-being and next adventure. Historic features have been unearthed, restored and renewed. Pathways, bridges and lakes have been reinstated to bring you closer to nature.
Exhibitions in the botanic garden of Wales include a 19th Century Apothecary's, Bioverse which explores the wonders of how plants work and the 360° Theatre Botanica, an unique introduction to the plant world. There's an award winning Seasons restaurant two excellent cafés, and plant sales area.
You will also visit the British Bird of Prey Centre where youll meet 20 British birds including eagles, owls, kites and falcons, all living in spacious aviaries where you can see them up close and find out what makes each one unique. The only attraction in the UK dedicated entirely to native British birds of prey.
With three different flying shows across our indoor and outdoor arenas every couple of hours the arena comes alive as our birds take to the skies in free flight. Owls glide past at eye level. Red kites sweep overhead. Falcons power through the air. It is fast, immersive and completely absorbing.
In between shows, explore the site and see our birds in their large, natural living spaces. Learn their stories, meet our team and enjoy the atmosphere before the next show. Our birds live in spacious, natural enclosures and make their own choices each day. They fly because they want to, not because they have to. That freedom is what makes every show different and every visit feel real.
